Since the dismissal of former Sabres Head Coach Don Granato, speculation about Lindy Ruff returning to the team has been widespread. During the locker room cleanout on Wednesday, players expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of Ruff’s return.
“I had the chance to meet him for the first time this year,” said Alex Tuch. “It didn’t even cross my mind before; Lindy is an excellent, astute coach. I’ve always admired his work.”
Ruff is gaining traction as a preferred choice, especially since he is available and ready to start immediately. Moreover, he fulfills the criteria of being an experienced coach, which General Manager Kevyn Adams emphasized as a priority.
“I’m looking for the next head coach to have a track record of experience and the ability to motivate this team,” said Adams.
Ruff boasts a distinguished resume with over two decades of NHL head coaching experience, including a notable 15-season tenure with the Sabres.
