The Washington Commanders inked contracts with four of their 2024 draft picks today, welcoming wide receiver Luke McCaffrey, linebacker Jordan Magee, safety Dominique Hampton, and defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste to the team.
McCaffrey showcased his prowess as a top receiver in the AAC last season, topping the conference in touchdown receptions. Despite his brief stint at Rice, he left a lasting impact, ranking third in school history with 19 touchdowns and eighth with 1,686 receiving yards.

Transitioning from quarterback to receiver just two seasons ago, McCaffrey quickly adapted, exhibiting impressive speed with a 4.46 sprint at the combine. His ability to accelerate allows him to outpace defenders from the slot, while his proficiency in traffic and knack for one-handed grabs set him apart.
Joining the Commanders as another former college team captain, Magee (6-foot-1, 228 pounds) gained valuable experience at Temple, notably excelling as a starter in 2021 before elevating his game further in 2022 and 2023. Leading the Owls with 86 tackles in 12 games during his junior year, Magee continued his stellar performance in his final season, topping the team in tackles (80) and tackles for loss (14), and sharing the lead in sacks (3.5).
Standing at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Hampton made significant contributions during his six-year tenure with the Huskies, particularly shining as a full-time starter in 2022. Garnering recognition as an Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 selection in 2023, Hampton’s skills as a run-stopping defensive back came to the forefront, evidenced by his team-leading 109 tackles and impactful performance in the College Football Playoff National Championship against Michigan.
Jean-Baptiste, a consistent force at Ohio State for four seasons before concluding his collegiate career at Notre Dame in 2023, displayed his prowess as a defensive end. Starting 12 out of 13 games during his final season, Jean-Baptiste led the Fighting Irish in tackles for loss (10.5) and sacks (5), showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
