Check it out: The Roster for Orioles’ Florida Complex League Features just 2 Outfielders.

A fresh season commences today for the Orioles’ rookie-level Florida Complex League team. Below is the lineup for this season’s O’s FCL squad.

The roster boasts a rich international blend, with 18 players hailing from the Dominican Republic, 16 from Venezuela, and one from Cuba.

Notably, infielder Luis Almeyda headlines the roster, having secured the largest signing bonus for an international amateur in team history at $2.3 million on Jan. 15, 2023. Almeyda, now 18, faced setbacks last year, playing only 19 games in the Dominican Summer League due to an ankle sprain followed by a left shoulder injury that necessitated surgery in August.

Additionally, three players from the club are undergoing minor league injury rehab assignments: infielders Terrin Vavra and Max Wagner, along with pitcher Jake Cunningham. Vavra underwent labrum surgery on his right shoulder, limiting his appearances last season to just two minor league games after June 14. He was sidelined again after Sept. 1.

Although the roster lists only two outfielders, players designated for other positions will likely see action in the outfield as well.
