As anticipated, the Pistons didn’t feature in any of the positive categories, given the lack of positives from their season. However, they did appear in categories that mirror their performance. One instance was when players were asked about the arena they least enjoyed playing in.
The arena you least like to play in
Little Caesar’s Arena topping the list at 16.2 percent. It’s unfortunate, considering the Pistons have dedicated fans, but the team’s lackluster performance over the past decade has resulted in sparse attendance and diminished enthusiasm.
Since relocating downtown, the Pistons have not experienced the same level of crowd support or success as they did at the Palace of Auburn Hills. However, once the Pistons return to competitiveness, this is likely to change, given Detroit’s reputation for having passionate, championship-caliber fans.
Coach you’d least like to play for
Monty Williams received 6.5 percent of the vote, landing him in third place when players were asked which coach they would least like to play for. Conversely, he secured the tenth spot, with three percent of the vote, in the category of coaches players would most like to play for. This suggests that opinions on Monty are quite polarized among players, with little middle ground.
Similarly, among Pistons fans, Monty Williams is a divisive figure. Some advocate for his dismissal, while others argue that he deserves more time with a stronger roster. These results cast doubt on whether Monty truly embodies the “players’ coach” persona he’s often portrayed as.
Player you’d least like to fight
Isaiah Stewart, our own player, ranked third when players were asked whom they would least like to fight, likely due to his demonstrated willingness to engage physically, a trait uncommon among NBA players who often prefer verbal confrontations.
Stewart’s reputation wasn’t improved by his arrest for assault earlier in the season, though in this poll, he was the sole Pistons player mentioned. James Johnson, a certified badass and kickboxer, dominated the poll, with Steven Adams following closely behind.
According to this poll, the Pistons have a less-than-ideal arena, coach, and at least one intimidating player on the roster. However, apart from these aspects, there isn’t much else noteworthy, which seems to align with general perceptions.
