Reds standout shortstop Elly De La Cruz had a standout performance on Friday night against the Angels, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and three stolen bases.
His contribution not only helped Cincinnati break a three-game losing streak but also showcased his immense potential. Despite being just 19 games into the season, De La Cruz has already amassed six home runs, 14 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. At this pace, he could finish the season with 51 home runs, 119 RBI, and 85 steals.
To put this into perspective, last season’s National League MVP, Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr., finished with 41 home runs, 106 RBI, and 73 stolen bases.
While George Foster holds the Reds’ record for most home runs in a season with 52, Hugh Nicol holds the record for most stolen bases in a season with 138.
